V6 Dodge Dart in the works

2013 slant 6 dodge dart

v6 dodge dart

Word on the street is that Chrysler has a V6 Dodge Dart in the works; this news comes to us from the Spy’s at allpar.com. I can see a  3.2 liter v6 engine fitting in the tight Alfa engine bay, the 3.6 liter V6 is just to dang big.

You can find the 3.6 liter V6 in the Dodge Avenger and Journey,  which both have an available 4 cylinder engine option

Why not put an inline 6 in the all new Dodge Dart; and if you have to, possibly slant the inline 6 to fit in the tight engine bay? Just like old times. Chrysler already brought the heritage of the GTS, GT, and the ScatPack to the all new Dodge Dart. Now lets put a inline or slant 6 in the dart.

“An inline 6 on the other hand is naturally balanced, only needing proper tuning and the correct firing order to maintain it. And because of its straightforward design, the inline 6 is cheaper to manufacture. Applications of an inline 6 in front wheel drive applications are none if any since being 6 cylinders wide can pose a problem for engine fitment. But for rear wheel drive applications, an inline 6 cylinder will work just fine. In addition, inline 6 cylinders produce more torque than V6 configurations and thus see its application in trucks and off road vehicles.”
